Until very recently my choice of headphone has been Motorola’s MOTOROKR S9 headset. My set was the original, not the S9 HD, so I can’t comment on that particular headset though I understand it is very similar to the original S9 Motorola stereo headphones. Motorola’s S9 stereo bluetooth headset is a ‘behind-the-head’ style headset made of a somewhat flexible plastic/rubber material.

The headset hooks over the wearer’s ears and extends and joins behind the head. The S9 bluetooth headset includes controls for volume up, volume down and track forward / backward on the wireless headphones themselves with these controls located on the headset itself, specifically just above the earbuds. Once you get used to them, using the controls becomes second nature, but that first week can be a bit confusing since you can’t see the touch-points themselves and must remember where to press for which intended outcome.

Also of note is that the S9 headset is a bit uncomfortable for the first week or so after purchase as the plastic shapes to your head’s dimensions. My ears were a bit sore by the end of my gym sessions at the outset for this reason, but it didn’t take long for that to pass and for the headset to become almost unnoticeable. Given its extremely light weight, once the headphones have found their shape you’ll hardly know they’re in when wearing them. There are also extra inserts in the event that the default configuration doesn’t fit snugly into your ear.

I used my Motorola S9 (MOTOROKR) headset for about 2 years before I managed to get water in them which fouled the contacts (my fault, not Motorola’s). That said I plan on replacing them shortly as I’ve had nothing but good experiences thus far. I used mine most often in the gym which was often quite humid and they didn’t seem to mind. I expect the issues with the water was due to my regular wear in the rain here in Vancouver. My bluetooth wireless headphones were were used with an HTC Kaiser, HTC Excalibur, HTC HW6955 and iPhone 3G at one point or another all successfully.

MOTOROKR Conclusion
In any event, I’m happy to answer any questions you may have about my experience with this headset, and can recommend them without concern. Best of all prices are far lower these days than when I bought my original set. I felt they were a great deal at the original price I paid, but these days they seem to be going for for less.
